Continued Professional Development

Incoming schools will join a strong and growing family with the relevant support structures designed to meet their initial and ongoing needs.  We run a range of CPD, training and networking events for school leaders, teachers, business managers and governors. Events and details can be found on the Events calendar or on our Eventbrite page.

Events for School Leaders

Regular Headteacher briefings, Inspection updates and conferences for Headteachers, often with external speakers in attendance. The ODBST conference, being held this year at Pendley Manor in November, provides the perfect opportunity for school leaders to meet, gain updates, and discuss key issues with each other and the members of the wider ODBST team. We also run dedicated sessions for those in the Trust that are new to their Headteacher role.

ODBST also runs a termly Aspirant Leader Network and Deputy Headteacher sessions.

Events for Curriculum and Subject Leaders

At ODBST, we run a large number and variety of subject specific CPD events and meetings for our subject leaders, helping them to form bonds with their peers across the Trust and be kept up to date with the latest information and OFSTED changes to deliver the best outcomes possible to our wonderful pupils. All of these sessions are run by our dedicated School improvement Team, and a number of specialised external providers who have a wealth of knowledge in their subject. Sessions are currently being held online, after school hours, so our teachers can now log on from school or home and be involved in the learning community of their subject. We currently run sessions for:

Early Years Leaders, SENDCo Leaders, Maths Leaders, English Leaders, STEM Leaders, History Leaders, Geography Leaders, PSHE Leaders, Music Leaders, Designated Safeguarding Leads, Pupil Premium Leaders and Early Career Teachers.

Events for Teaching

We currently run a Subject Learning Community for English. These Twilight CPD sessions are designed to support teachers’ knowledge and skills. Hosted by ODBST but led by external trainers, each session usually focuses on specific aspects of teaching English. All teachers and teaching assistants in the Trust are welcome to these sessions. Details can be found on our Eventbrite page.

Events for School Business Managers

School Business Managers network sessions are run every term for ODBST business managers. Giving SBMs a chance to meet with and get updates from the central team, network and share information with peers across the trust.

Events for Operations and HR

Our Operations and HR network sessions take place every half term for the people in our schools that are in charge of HR and operations. It is a great opportunity to share best practice between our schools and check in with the shared services team.

Events for Governors

The ODBST Termly Chairs Forum is a chance for the Trust’s Chief Executive Officer and Head of Governance team to liaise with Chair of Governors keeping an open dialogue between all parties.

The Trust also provides regular and various opportunities to access training in the key skills for governance and support for Governors and Local Governing Bodies in their work. More details of our Governance support can be found on our Governance pages.

Other Events and Training

We also run additional training on a wide range of topics as and when the need arises. Details can be found on our Eventbrite page and in our news items.
